Blessings to All

Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes. Isaiah 58:10-12

Over the course of the next several days, Kitchen One for One will mobilize about 20 volunteers to feed and share some love and Jesus to 350(ish) people who are either homeless, marginalized, or experiencing difficult life circumstances. Simply put, we’re going to serve some people that are in need. According to our passage from Scripture, serving is a God-instituted system that brings light and hope to both the giver and the receiver.

For the giver, serving others deepens their faith and spiritual life, bringing a sense of fulfillment and purpose. According to Isaiah 58:11, those who serve will be guided and strengthened by the Lord, experiencing His provision and blessings in their own lives. Acts of service transform the giver as the Holy Spirit cultivates qualities like empathy, patience, and humility. Serving within the Kingdom of God also fosters a sense of community and unity among those serving, as they work together towards a common goal.

For the receiver, we see benefits such as basic needs being met through an immediate relief from hunger, a restoration of their sense of dignity and worth as they receive love and compassion, and refreshed hope and motivation to seek longer-term solutions to the issues they are facing.

As we do our part, we can trust the Lord to do His… generously giving blessings to all.
