Devoted to God, Devoted to One Another

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. Acts 2:42-45

They were loyal, faithful, committed, true, devout, dedicated, steadfast, fond of, loving toward God and others.

The early believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Their first priority was a deep, unwavering commitment to God. As we serve (especially with Kitchen One for One), let’s remember that our service is an expression of our devotion to God. Every act of kindness, every meal served, is an act of worship.

They were committed to fellowship, sharing their lives and resources. A sense of unity and togetherness was at the heart of their community. As we come together to serve (especially with Kitchen One for One), let’s be mindful to strengthen the bonds with each other. Unity increases our ability to serve and love others effectively.

All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to those in need. How far would you go? Their radical generosity is a powerful lesson for us. Serving with Kitchen One for One is not just about providing food. It’s about sharing God's love.

They broke bread and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. This wasn’t just about nourishment. It was about building relationships and fostering community. As we serve (especially with Kitchen One for One), let’s engage with those we serve, listening to their stories and sharing in their joys and struggles.

Because of their devotion, in verse 47, we see that the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Their dedication to God and each other had a ripple effect that extended far beyond what we could ever see or imagine. Our acts of service (especially with Kitchen One for One) can have a similar impact, spreading God's love and hope to everyone we encounter.

Let’s serve with the same devotion as the church we read about, knowing that our efforts bring glory to God.
