Do it like this…

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience… And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12,14

“It’s not so much what you do as how you do it!” Somewhat of a cliché saying, but it should ring true for everyone who’s got a relationship with Jesus. As a matter of fact, the above passage goes on to say that no matter what we do, we ought to do it as representatives of Christ. That means we ought to do things the way Jesus would do it. He embodied the virtues of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love.

We, too, can embody these virtues and honor the dignity of others.

At Kitchen One for One, we do so much more than offer food to those in need. We extend love. We honor the dignity of people who’ve been shunned and marginalized by much of society. We humbly remind the people we serve that they have value because they’ve been created in the image of God.

Each time we put on our aprons to prepare food or serve guests at one of our events, we symbolically clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love. It reminds us that it’s not so much what we’re doing as it is how we do it.

We do it like this because that’s how Jesus did it.
