Serving as a Christian

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45

As we serve others, it’s helpful to be reminded that we’re following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ Himself. The King of Kings came not to be served but to serve. He gives us the ultimate example of serving with love and sacrifice. When we serve those in need, we are reflecting the very heart of God.

Service in the Christian life isn’t just an act of kindness - it’s a calling. It’s a demonstration of our faith that shows the world who Jesus is. When we serve, we answer the call. When we serve, we make ourselves available to God so He can use us to bless others through our time, our energy, and our love.

The world often teaches us that greatness is found in how many people serve us and how much power we have. But in the Kingdom of God, true greatness is found in humility and service. Jesus flips the script and tells us (and shows us) that the greatest among us are the servants.

We can be encouraged that every act of service, no matter how small, is significant in God’s eyes. Whether we’re feeding people, offering a kind word, lending a helping hand, or simply being present for someone in need, we are embodying Christ’s love.
