Looking Ahead to 2025 - Serving with Obedience
“If you love me, keep my commands.” John 14:15
At Kitchen One for One, our mission extends beyond feeding the hungry. It’s about embodying Christ's love and sharing it through the opportunities He gives us to be His hands and feet. As we aim to serve the Lord and our community, obedience to His commands is crucial.
However, there’s an important distinction between doing things for Jesus and doing them with Jesus. It's easy to get caught up in the act of service, focusing on the tasks at hand while losing sight of the One we are serving and allowing Him to lead and direct.
When we serve without truly involving Jesus, our actions become mechanical. We find ourselves relying on our own strength and knowledge, rather than seeking wisdom, guidance, and empowerment from the Holy Spirit. This can lead to frustration, burnout, and less Godly fruit for the Kingdom.
This is where discipleship and spiritual formation play a critical role. By nurturing our relationship with Christ through prayer, study of Scripture, and communion with the Holy Spirit, we align our hearts with God's will and learn to hear His voice as we serve Him and others in our daily lives. This spiritual growth transforms our service into an act of worship that’s driven by love and obedience to the Lord.
Walking in obedience means to continually seek Jesus in all we do. It involves listening to His voice, trusting His direction, and allowing His love to flow through us. It’s about understanding that our acts of service are an extension of our relationship with Him because we want what’s best for Him. When we serve with Jesus rather than just for Jesus, we experience true fulfillment and purpose while God produces lasting fruit for His Kingdom.
As we move into 2025, let’s stand firmly in this spirit of obedience and Christ-centered service. The year ahead is going to bring new opportunities and challenges, and with our eyes fixed on Jesus and our hearts open to His guidance, we will continue making a big impact on the world around us. Let’s commit ourselves to discipleship and spiritual growth by spending a considerable amount of time alone with the Lord, ensuring that our service remains Spirit-led and aligned with God's will.
At Kitchen One for One, each of us, as supporters, volunteers, and workers, should harmonize our personal discipleship with our acts of service. This is how, together, we can reflect the true essence of Christ's love.
